2011's top-selling Blu-Ray releases so far
on Thursday, March 17, 2011
After viewing the weekly Blu-Ray Sales Chart here at TBOJ, a lot of people ask me if I have total Blu-Ray sales figures available for various releases, and my answer is always the same: Unfortunately, no. I don't have time to keep track of total sales.
I had a little extra time today, though, and because I love you all so much, I decided to do some major number crunching for the top-selling Blu-Ray releases of recent history—namely, Inception, Despicable Me, The Town, The A-Team, The Social Network, Salt, Red, The Other Guys, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Secretariat, and Machete—and calculate the total Blu-Ray sales for each film. It's pretty interesting stuff, so if you want to see the total sales and week-by-week breakdown for those movies, go ahead and click inside.
Keep in mind: These are ESTIMATES. I put together TBOJ's Blu-Ray sales estimates each and every week, and while they are bound to be off by a few thousand copies, they are as accurate as you're going to find on all the internet. So don't whine.

Excellent post. Thank you very much.
It would have been fantastic if you could include Toy Story 3 too.
Grady:
I'll try to check to see how those match the data that I have also.
How did you calculate those figures for each week and what did you use as your primary sources?
Remember if you are using Nielsen Videoscan reporting for the Blu-ray marketshare numbers for each week, then there is a small issue with the numbers from Walmart and Sam's Club as those are not considered in the N/V weekly reports.
But overall those look order of magnitude correct

What about eclipse?
Thanks Grady!!
Go Salt!!
And WOW WOW WOW @ Inception. It's nearing 10m total discs.
Would be awesome if you could post an up-to-date (through first week in July 2011) chart for the sales of Christina Aguilera's movie, 'Burlesque!' I know it had sold roughly a quarter million Blu Ray copies a couple of months ago, but can't find anything to date for total sold!
Sweet. Glad we got this now. Good to see all of the Blu-ray releases in 2011 as well like at http://www.filmcrave.com/bluray_new.php
