100 Word Review: 'The Adjustment Bureau'

on Saturday, March 05, 2011

I think The Adjustment Bureau is pretty fun movie. At least I think I think that—I could have been frozen by a team of fedora-donning angels/detectives/doormen and programmed to type that. I guess I'll never know. Or wait, I will... If writer/director George Nolfi weren't so eager to answer all his intriguingly set-up questions about fate and free will, then The Adjustment Bureau could be a great movie. Unfortunately, the psychological sci-fi romance unravels in the final act, as it attempts to shoehorn ages of philosophical debate about predestination into a janky theological solution. Damon and Blunt perform well. B

Glad you like it! I don't want to commit to writing long reviews, but I thought 100 Word Reviews could be a fun way of sharing my opinions about the stuff I see in theaters.

If you wrote everything you wanted to say then this would make a nice feature to the site.

And I was planning to see this movie and Rango today but ultimately couldn't. But your review for The Adjustment Bureau matches what most of the other critics are saying.

grady,

please share your thoughts regarding last week's box office when:

rango, adjustment bureau, take me home tonight, and beastly came out..

will these movies(above) be able to profit or at least break even given their box office performance? =)

ticket sales are down from last year when alice came out..
