I don't like 3D movies either. It has never been worth it to me to sit through the entire movie wearing the (as you stated well) very uncomfortable glasses, watching something that could still be enjoyable without the 3D effects, and only ending up disappointed when those action sequences that the makers chose to show off the supposed superiority of 3D just aren't that much more awesome than watching it in regular 2D. I don't need to pay extra just so I can spend five seconds watching something seemingly fly out of the screen at my face. My suspension of disbelief I brought in with me can handle that just fine without those awesome glasses that, in fact, do not enhance my movie going experience. I want to watch a movie, not be distracted by the fact that everything I see is red- and blue-tinted. If I had a choice to watch a movie in 2D or 3D, I'd stick with 2D. Maybe the reason 3D movies are doing well is in spite of the fact that they are 3D, not because of. Perhaps Americans just want to see "Up" because it's a good movie and are willing to put up with 3D shenanigans to do so.

Lost poster
Hmm... It depends on the usage of 3D, I suppose. If it's a gimmick (read: The Final Destination), I'm not crazy about it. Then it becomes a focal point of a movie, and belongs in an amusement park. But I'm curious about it's use in other sorts of movies, and think it could work well. I'm particularly curious about Tim Burton's Alice and Wonderland. I feel like it might do it right.
I like it. The only one I've ever seen is Up, but I can't recall ever being uncomfortable. I'm sure it helps that Up was an awesome movie anyway, but I really just see 3-D as a way to make movies more engaging. And why worry about prices? If its too much, just see it at the non-3d theater. If consumers as a whole feel its too much, everyone will do that and either prices will go down or the format will go away. Clearly, right now people think its a fair price. And saying having a lot of movies is "spoiling" us is ridiculous. Would you have said that when movies added sound? Or color?
Preston, I guess I'm just a little more stingy with my money, cuz where I live, ticket prices everywhere are WAY too high for my taste. And regarding the "spoiling" section, I think you're taking things a bit too seriously! I'm being sincere, but of course I know its a silly argument!
Oh and regarding the LOST poster- you know I love that show! My very favorite!
Gucci is apparently designing special, keepable (is that a word?) 3-D glasses for Avatar. Oh la la, those kind won't be hurting anybody's nose & they'll be cool!! Also toddlers will have specially-made smaller glasses & eventually prescription 3-D eyeglasses will be available too. Sounds like Hollywood has great hopes for 3-D!!
Oh by the way, I enjoy your videos (or is it v-log or something?)
Thanks for the support Krystal! You've always been a faithful commenter! I'm glad you like the videos. I enjoy the format as well. I consider myself a bit more a of a reporter than a vlogger. I try to have my videos be mostly information based, rather than just talking about my life.
katzenberg, not katzenberger.
if you quote somebody at least get their name right.
I can't believe I didn't catch that! I actually looked up his name and double and triple checked that I'd be saying it right when i was planning the video, and I still got it wrong! His name has been a stumbling point of mine for years, and I fell into my own trap again! Haha, whoops!
I HATE 3-D and would never pay extra to see it. There are WAY more pros to seeing a 2-D movie in my opinion. If theaters keep charging more for tickets, I'll just start waiting for movies to come out and I'll rent them from Netflix. I have a pretty nice HD t.v. now as it is.. I almost think at home is a better place to watch movies anyway.
I hate 3D as well. It gives me a headache. Plus when you have been sitting there watching a movie in 3D for a long time, your eyes adjust to it and get use to it so you wind up not knowing it is in 3D anymore. Plus, it is different for making a 3D movie to making a movie into 3D. Now Dispicable Me, was pretty good in 3D. That drill coming at you and the end credits of the creatures trying to reach out to you. That actually amazed me but other than that, 3D is getting too obsessively wild. I want 4D. TIME Movies where you can go back into time and tell yourself, "Hey, you're going to love it." Seriously, I would rather watch holograms than 3D movies.
Also, I agree about the glasses, they hurt. For people with glasses, it is just a struggle to have to wear them over them. Like wearing sunglasses over regular glasses. It gets in the way. And also it hurts the nose. They are highly uncomfortable. They need contacts or eye drops to where it makes half of your eyes appear red and the other blue. That or they should just do a ghost in the shell thing and integrate a device in our brain that can see 3D movies when we turn them on. Yeah, they think this is the future but it is no where close. x.x
